an overview of SYM
SYM is dedicated to providing a highly professional service which supports students and schools.  We aim to help schools provide a broad, rich curriculum especially in the areas of social, physical, emotional and spiritual health.

Our staff (who are all enhanced CRB checked) are committed to planning, delivering and evaluating a range of activities which are ‘tailor made’ to suit the individual needs of each school and indeed each group of students.  We work in close partnership with school staff to ensure that what we deliver meets the school’s requirements and has a positive, measurable impact on the students.

The work of SYM is overseen by a management board comprising experienced teachers, headteachers, local clergy and businessmen whose role is to ensure that the services delivered meet the highest possible professional standards.

Our services are free to schools as we are financially supported by 25 churches and over 200 charities and individual donors.  We are a Christian organization and we will always present from that point of view but we do respect the views of those of all faiths and those of none.

what people say...
“SYM consistently provides professional support to The Sandon School.  The work they do with our students is challenging, thought provoking, relevant and always of a very high standard.  They make an invaluable contribution to both the RE department and the whole school community.”
(Lydia Jarman, Head of RE – Sandon High School)

“Dr Gareth Sherwood has the capacity to engage Sixth Formers immediately with his charisma and style of delivery.  SYM has given us the ability to work with students effectively on the very important issue of sexual and mental health.  SYM has given our Sixth Formers the opportunity to discuss moral issues and dilemmas that are relevant to them in an interesting, rigorous, yet safe and secure setting.  SYM has been invaluable to help our Sixth Formers develop their personal and social awareness of important issues.”

(Robin Newman, Head of sixth-form – KEGS)

“Glyn has been the most fun part of the year.  He is funny and gives out prizes.  We played charades and did quizzes with him.  He made lessons interesting and fun and helped us to learn more about Christianity.”
(Year 8 Student – Chelmer Valley High School)
